Nick works regularly with media consultancy See Media, providing sub-editing and production services on publications for clients in the housing sector. These include construction company Willmott Dixon’s quarterly Housing Matters magazine and an ongoing series of booklets for social housing organisation HouseMark.
For both, Nick’s job is to ensure that client messages are communicated as clearly and engagingly as possible. He writes sharp, snappy headlines and standfirsts, reworks copy to tighten an angle or improve the structure, and collaborates closely with the art director to ensure the text and images combine to create an accessible, appealing magazine. He also proofs and prepares the finalised pages for production in print and online.
Katie has also written the copy for one of the HouseMark booklets, reporting from one of its regular Business Connect visits, which offer social housing providers an insight into the operations of successful businesses. She spent a day at the headquarters of Metro Bank in London, interviewing attendees and distilling presentations into a pithy, eight-page booklet about how the UK’s newest high street bank has grown to nearly 40 branches in just five years and what housing associations could learn from its success.
